Were it not for a shoulder injury Jan. 13 against Detroit that sidelined him for 11 games, LW Dany Heatley likely would have finished among the League's top 10 scorers for the fourth time in the past five seasons. Heatley finished the season 15th overall with 82 points (41 goals, 41 assists) in 71 games. The injury also broke a streak of 207 consecutive regular-season games played since the start of the 2005-06 season.
Heatley also ranked among the League leaders in plus-minus (third, +33), improving to a cumulative +93 in three seasons with Ottawa.
In 2006-07, Heatley finished fourth in the NHL scoring race with 105 points (50 goals, 55 assists) and became the first player since Florida’s Pavel Bure in 1999-2000 and 2000-01 to record consecutive 50-goal seasons and tied for the League lead in game-winning goals (10). He and linemates Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson shared the League points lead in the 2007 playoffs; Alfredsson posted 14-8--22, while Heatley and Spezza notched 7-15--22.
